A note on the title: It is--for those who may be wondering--a selection from Coleridge's "Rime of the Ancient Mariner". These lines, however, are also apt descriptors of the current situation in rural Bangladesh, where the supply of well water is contaminated with toxic levels of naturally occurring arsenic. Moreover, standing water is also unsafe due to its inherent microbial content. Thus, water sources are ever-present, but few of these provide water that is safe for everyday consumption.
